Dreams Alive Club hosts Sans Group

April 18, 2017

The Dreams Alive Club hosted South African Scandal soapie’s duo of Hungani Ndlovu and Stephanie Sandows in Gaborone this week. Club Coordinator Tshepiso Maruping said they launched a social media engagement against HIV/AIDS as part of the Month of Youth against Aids commemoration. “The campaign involves youth and performers uploading empowering creative video messages through dance, acting, singing, poetry, public service announcement, skits and any creative medium and interpretation in order to inspire other youth against HIV/AIDS,” she said.

The performers held an empowerment workshop for locals to equip artists to use their talent and platform towards social and community development with HIV/AIDS prevention and health promotion as the primary subject matter of the series of workshops. Maruping said the duo took the participants through a four-day talk. Ndlovu revealed that they made sure that they try and cover what they teach in eight weeks in just four days. “In dance hip hop was the main style, basic acting techniques, audition techniques and other parts to all those activities,” he said. Sandows urged Batswana to make sure that they put their talent out there by auditioning for roles anywhere because all that they have to do is send tapes and then if they are good they will be taken.

“South Africa is an advantage for Batswana because they speak one of the national languages which is Setswana, so that means they can always get roles if they are good at them,” she said.
